The sky’s the limit with new rules on C of E weddings

celebrity weddingThe Church of England is shaking off its conservative image to pave the way for couples to host wedding ceremonies with the celeb factor. Inspired by church wedding celebs, Kate Moss and Jamie Hince, Lily Allen and Sam Cooper and Posh and Becks, who said their vows 13 years ago while sat on golden thrones, the initiative hopes to encourage more couples to consider a church wedding.

To boost dwindling numbers the C of E has published a handbook for clerics with new guidelines on what a ceremony can contain. And with walking down the aisle to pop music, entering the church on horseback and underwater ceremonies all making the cut, it seems you can go as bespoke as your imagination allows.

And church-wedding couples can now document their special day in all its bespoke glory as vicars, who were previously reluctant to allow photographers and videographers into the service, have been urged to give them the green light.

Church weddings have been steadily decreasing in popularity, but this new tolerance for Posh and Becks style celebrations along with the legal reforms of 2010 that allow couples greater choice over which church to wed in, look set to end the downwards trend. Here’s to getting creative with your church wedding!
